§ 2.20.030. Procedural regulations.

  • (A)

    The Sexton shall meet and consult with the Cemetery Commission and furnish such information as they may from time to time request. They shall be subject to the authority of the City Administrator regarding the use of City-owned machinery, equipment, fuel and supplies. It shall be the duty of the City Administrator and all other officers of the City to cooperate fully with the Sexton carrying out their duties under this chapter.

    (B)

    The Sexton shall not have any authority to obligate the City to any expenditure unless it has been provided for within the budget of the Cemetery Fund, and any such expenditure shall be subject to the Charter requirements of the City.

    (C)

    The Sexton shall not collect any of the fees payable under this chapter but the same shall be paid directly at the City offices for deposit to the Cemetery Funds of the City. The Sexton shall act on the written receipt.

    (D)

    The Sexton may, upon request of the purchaser of one or more cemetery lots in the City section, reserve up to four adjacent lots for a period not to exceed 120 days. This agreement is with the understanding that the purchaser will pay the designated price, as set by the City Council, for lots in the City section of the Jacksonville Cemetery in effect on the date that payment is made.
